Important limitations

  • A single ultrasound cannot always exclude ectopic, especially very early.
  • You may need repeat ultrasound and serial β-hCG testing (≈48 hrs) with your OB/GYN.
  • We will coordinate urgent referral if findings are concerning.

How to prepare

  • Full bladder helps for the transabdominal portion (drink ~16–24 oz water 45–60 min before; don’t urinate).
  • You may be asked to empty your bladder before the TV scan for better detail.

  • Please arrange a driver if you feel unwell.
